Discussions with the government of Canada regarding possible sources of funding for continued mine operations. Provide input and participate in discussions regarding the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and its action plan. Representations to inform the government of opportunities for new aluminum production technologies that could be developed in Canada through the Strategic Innovation Fund. Discussions on updates to Owens Corning’s network in Canada. Discussions with officials regarding the Canada-US bilateral relationship and possible tariffs.

Monitor international free trade agreements discussions as it pertains to international dairy trade issues. Government policies, practices, requirements and obligations respecting quotas (and supplemental import authorizations) for supply-managed goods.

Communicate with the government on the timelines and expectations surrounding the implementation of the excessive interest and financing expenses limitation (EIFEL) rules as indicated in Bill C-59, Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023. Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) with regard to eligibility, duration and scaling. Working with International Development Canada to establish and indentify programs to seek funding for projects to encourage women business and entrepreneurship in developing areas. Immigration policy with respect to foreign worker programs and permits Engage with government on regulations involving single use plastics, content levels of plastic in recyclable products, and supply chains pertaining to replacement of plastic products. Canada Emergency Rent Assistance Program (CECRA) with regard to eligibility, duration and expansion.

Taxation policy with regard to corporate, small business, and personal income taxes. Seeking the permanent elimination of GST/HST from all food, following the recent GST/HST Tax Holiday. Discussions with officials regarding the Canada-US bilateral relationship, possible tariffs, and the impacts on the food service industry and food supply chains. Immigration policies with respect to worker programs and permits. Interprovincial trade barriers impacting the restaurant and food services industry, including restrictions on interprovincial alcohol shipments, inconsistent packaging standards, varying food safety inspections, etc.

Ashcroft Terminal will be seeking access to funding for operations expansion through the National Trade Corridor Fund.

Discussions with officials regarding the Canada-US bilateral relationship and possible tariffs.

Provide subject matter (AI) expertise to the Canadian AI Safety Institute team where it might be helpful across a number of areas including opportunities for research and safety practices. Discussions regarding digital policy and legislation, including as it relates to artificial intelligence (AI) and data protection, privacy and reduction of online harms. Discuss issues related to international competitiveness of the domestic AI industry. AI adoption including updating procurement policies. Discussions with officials regarding the Canada-US bilateral relationship.

• Trade policy as it relates to the import and export of spirits. • Tax policy on alcohol related to the enabling environment and competitiveness of spirits (addressing the impact of the escalator excise tax on the alcohol industry). • Interprovincial trade barriers related to spirits business. • Environmental policy as it relates to the alcohol industry. • Engaging with Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada and Foreign Affairs on World Health Organization’s Global Alcohol Strategy and actions undertaken by the industry in Canada to reduce harmful drinking.
