RAILWAY ASSOCIATION OF CANADA (THE) (RAC)

Seek to strengthen and accelerate transportation-focused government research investment by creating or adapting programs encouraging technology development for security, emissions reduction, and other rail technologies including for safety. Seek to develop infrastructure support program for shortline railways. Provide an essential link between federal regulators and RAC members, and work collaboratively with departments and agencies to provide government with input on the feasibility and impact of regulatory policies. Legislative changes pertaining to the Canada Transportation Act, Railway Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, and other railway-related proposals, bills, or resolutions. Issues affecting railway safety, operations, and investments. Encourage trade-enabling, safety-related, and other railway funding support through existing and/or new programs or policies. Discussions related to passenger bill of rights. Discussions related to Enhanced Train Control. Discussions related to broadband communications for critical infrastructure operators. Critical infrastructure protection and cybersecurity. Canada-U.S. policy and regulatory alignment. Anti-replacement workers legislation and other labour matters affecting railways.
