Providing updates to officials on efforts by the BCMEA, its members, and its labour partners to enhance the health and safety of waterfront workers, while ensuring the continuity of critical waterfront operations that support Canadians. Communicating with government officials about the Canada Labour Code, specifically the application of the Canada Labour Code to waterfront employers and employees. Communicating with government officials about port operations, competitiveness and supply chain stability Communicating with government officials about policies and measures in relation to the transportation sector including employment policies/policies specific to federally regulated industries

Consultations to strengthen labour relations and better support workers with respect to the Canada Labour Code and the collective bargaining process at West Coast ports. Consultations on Strengthening One Canadian Economy through trade and transportation with respect to supply chain stability. Communicating with government officials about safety and training priorities and programs for waterfront employees (including those offered at the BCMEA Training Centre), more specifically as it relates to operator responsibilities, physical demands, safety, process, equipment and controls and operating procedures. Communicating with government officials about the importance of labour stability at ports, including with respect to the renewal of coastwide collective agreements. Communicating with government officials about the Canada Labour Code, specifically the application of the Canada Labour Code to waterfront employers and employees. Communicating with government officials (in general) about port operations and competitiveness.

Raising awareness of Trigon's role in the Canadian economy, its contributions to Canada's export diversification goals and the importance of regional economic strength in western Canada by growing Canadian exports - specifically liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other energy exports

Support increased funding to the National Trade Corridors Fund and encourage the federal government to prioritize infrastructure particularly related to energy diversification and/or projects that benefit Indigenous communities. Raising awareness of Trigon's role in the West Coast economy, its contribution to Canada’s export goals and its importance as a source of employment and economic strength in the regional community, including with its Indigenous partners. Engagement with the government on encouraging Canadian green energy production and export such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and hydrogen as ammonia, and working to overcome barriers to market entry for Canada.

Set up meetings to raise awareness of Ridley Terminals’ role in the West Coast economy, its contribution to Canada’s export goals and its importance as a source of employment and economic strength in the regional community, including with its Indigenous partners.

Advancing Roberts Bank terminal expansion as a project of national significance and inclusion in the One Canadian Economy: An Act to enact the Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act and the Building Canada Act appendix A project list. Port Modernization Review implementation through re-introduction of Bill C-52 equivalent or similar; Transport Canada is undertaking a review of Canada Port Authorities to optimize their current and future role in the transportation system as innovative assets that support inclusive growth and trade. Canada's international trade policy with respect to demand, capacity forecasting and supply chains between Canada and the Asia-Pacific and how it relates to GCT Global Container Terminal's current operations as a majority Canadian-owned terminal operator and future corporate development and investment plans.
