Increase the grants portion of Canada’s bilateral climate finance and ensure that only grants are used to address adaptation and loss and damage. Conduct a review of all bilateral debts held by Canada to identify those that have become unsustainable and to be canceled without conditions. Play a leadership role in multilateral forums, like the G7, G20, IMF and World Bank for the creation of a UN Framework Convention on Sovereign Debt. Encourage the reduction and phase out of fossil fuel production and to significantly reduce investments in fossil fuel supply. Ensure the elimination of subsidies to fossil fuel industry. Adopt strong climate targets by enhancing regulations to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
