Policies, programs and capacity needed for implementation of the National Adaptation Strategy Policies, programs and capacity for implementation of the Environmental Justice Strategy The Canadian Environmental Protection Act, with respect to improving health and wellbeing for all people in Canada including those most vulnerable Legislation proposal and regulations (eg to the Competition Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Canadian Code of Advertising Standards, etc) to restrict/ban advertising of fossil fuels.

Discussing the importance of new policies and programs related to sport, physical activity, reducing Canada's climate footprint, community infrastructure (including revisiting the fiscal arrangement between levels of government), housing, immigration, youth employment, and mental and physical health promotion. Pursue dedicated federal funding from Canadian Heritage and Infrastructure Canada to expand CPRA's Canadian Parks, Recreation and Sport Infrastructure Database to help municipalities and local organizations enhance planning efforts, identify opportunities to maximize facility usage, and benchmark provision standards. Securing bridge funding through Canada's regional development agencies to support CPRA's youth employment program

Provide input on the Federal Sustainable Jobs Plan. Climate change and energy policy – strengthening current government climate change policies, and implementation and strengthening of the Emissions Reduction Plan. Provide input on Federal implementation of international climate change commitments and input into climate conversations at international summits. Seeking funding from the Government of Canada for the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development. Strengthening and enacting federal regulations on greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts from the oil and gas sector and other economic sectors. Federal budget and spending – providing resources for climate and environmental initiatives, including clean energy; aligning federal spending with climate objectives. Input on the Canada Water Agency and building Federal collaboration with the Experimental Lakes Area.

Encourage the introduction of new legislation to ensure sustainable First Nation water and wastewater systems, with minimum standards of water quality and minimum capacity standards for the delivery of water. Increase the grants portion of Canada’s bilateral climate finance and ensure that only grants are used to address adaptation and loss and damage. Conduct a review of all bilateral debts held by Canada to identify those that have become unsustainable and to be canceled without conditions. Play a leadership role in multilateral forums, like the G7, G20, IMF and World Bank for the creation of a UN Framework Convention on Sovereign Debt. Encourage the reduction and phase out of fossil fuel production and to significantly reduce investments in fossil fuel supply. Ensure the elimination of subsidies to fossil fuel industry. Adopt strong climate targets by enhancing regulations to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

The application of regulations under the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act, Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, Fisheries Act, Species at Risk Act, National Energy Board Act, and Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Tax incentives for clean energy sectors. Phasing out tax preferences for fossil fuel sector. Future federal greenhouse gas regulations. Federal support for clean energy, electricity, energy efficiency, building retrofits, sustainable transportation, carbon sequestration and/or removal, and sustainable jobs.
