"Hydrogen Related Incentives" On behalf of the client, I will be advocating to various departments and agencies to promote hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS) in Alberta. In addition, I will be pursing various department and agencies to adopt hydrogen and CCS incentives.

Discussions regarding support for the development of clean hydrogen and net-zero technology, including through the Strategic Response Fund. Policies and regulations regarding zero emissions vehicles and the use of hydrogen in transportation applications, the supply of hydrogen and equipment for hydrogen fueling stations, including technology relating to compression, storage and dispensing. Engaging government regarding hydrogen and emissions reductions, including the proposed Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit and the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Tax Credit. Engaging government on regulations relating to hydrogen, including the Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS) regulations. Engaging government on regulations relating to CO2 production and reduction. Engaging government on policies and programs that encourage the production and use of hydrogen as an alternative source of fuel, including hydrogen produced from by alternative processes and the purchased and retrofit of third-party facilities. Engaging government on issues relating to Greenhouse Gas rules and their impact on third-party producers and sellers of hydrogen. Discussions regarding support for hydrogen mobility and transportation solutions.

Support for hydrogen research and development capabilities in Canada through the Strategic Innovation Fund I will be pursuing various department and agencies to adopt hydrogen and CCS incentives and financial supports including the Strategic Innovation Fund, Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit, Contracts for Difference, and carbon credits under the Clean Fuel Regulations. On behalf of the client, I will be advocating to various departments and agencies with respect to legislation and regulations that impact the development of clean hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS) with a focus on Bill C-59 (e.g. CCUS-ITC), Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit and the Clean Fuel Regulations.

Discussions about federal support (whether funding or policy) for the Mercer Peace River pulp mill and Mercer Celgar pulp mill operations and the continued support of the Mercer Peace River Pulp and Svante Co? Capture Project.

Communicating with government officials about potential collaboration, including potential funding agreements, between the company and the government related to the production of domestic medications. The goal of these communications is to alleviate medical shortages in Canada.

Advocacy related to university engagement in Canadian priorities in artificial intelligence, data systems and related computing science and energy subjects, including but not limited to specific calls for proposals. Advocacy for university initiatives related to Canadian priorities across the defence spectrum, including initiatives relevant to both Defence and Veterans' Affairs, among other federal departments. Advocacy to enhance support for university research mobilization and commercialization activities. Research security, with respect to international research partnerships Discussions with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and other relevant departments and agencies regarding the role of universities in supporting federal innovation initiatives, policies and programs. Discussions regarding research and development initiatives and federal support related to energy and environment, and climate change research, innovation, commercialization, talent and knowledge mobilization. Discussions regarding official language funding amounts and mechanisms. Discussions about the Copyright Act and details of its implementation in a post-secondary setting. Advocacy to secure support in the budget for post-secondary education, research, innovation, and science and technology. Advocacy to secure federal support to develop and upgrade university infrastructure, including but not limited to research and learning facilities, digital infrastructure, and transit infrastructure. Advocacy to increase support for university research, including research funding and granting programs administered by the tri-agencies (SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR) and other departments and agencies. Advocacy to improve immigration policies and programs for prospective and current university students, faculty, and staff. Advocacy to ensure that proposals to develop or amend federal legislation, regulations, policies or programs that directly or indirectly impact the post-secondary system reflect the needs of universities and support our research and education mission. Advocacy to enhance student supports, including but no limited to Canada Student Grants and Loans, the Canada Graduate Scholarship Program, supports for Indigenous students, and work-integrated learning programs. Advocacy to advance Canadian leadership in priority areas to support world class research, talent attraction and retention, and knowledge mobilization. Advocacy related to reconciliation efforts, including but not limited to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action

Support for new research and campus infrastructure. Increased funding and program design for various programs administered by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Funding or support with respect to international development cooperation (student and academic mobility, internships, research collaboration, exchanges, technical assistance). Discussions regarding possible research and development initiatives for, and investments in, partnerships with the University of Calgary. Discussions concerning potential research and development initiatives and investments related to clean energy, environmental research and climate change policy. Discussions about policy implementation regarding the academic visa process in support of international faculty recruitment with respect to changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. Budget bills in support of federal funding for post-secondary education, research, innovation, science and technology.

Navigating regulations respecting the reduction in the release of methane from the waste sector. Lobbying for energy recovery from the combustion of municipal solid waste (MSW) with carbon capture and storage (CCS) to be considered a circular economy solution to waste and a solution to reducing waste sector related methane emissions. Requesting consideration and inclusion of landfill diversion incentives within Environment and Climate Change Canada's Landfill Methane Regulations. Navigating financial support mechanisms such as Canadian Infrastructure Bank (CIB), Canada Growth Fund (CGF), and Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED). Seeking support through funding programs like the Strategic Response Fund (SRF). Seeking line of sight to potential grant funding mechanisms that can, if necessary, support the capital stack of Varme's Heartland Project to unlock private capital investment into the project. Encouraging the Government of Canada to enable Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMO) as a legal tool under the Paris Agreement for domestic carbon project developers to access global markets. Advocating for the inclusion of geologically stored Carbon Dioxide Removals (CDR) to be included within the Clean Fuel Regulation credit market. Lobbying for the Carbon Capture Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS) Investment Tax Credit (ITC) program to consider delivery of power via grid connection through direct supply agreements to a CCUS eligible offtaker as eligibly considered 'dual use'. Advocating for the inclusion of Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) at the 60% rate under the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) investment tax credit (ITC). Advocacy for inclusion of Enhanced Oil Recovery in Federal Government programs including but not limited to; Investment Tax Credits, to support the overall economic viability of CCUS projects and investments. General advocacy for waste to energy as a sustainable and economically maximizing waste management solution. Lobbying for a stronger policy framework around landfill methane reduction that focuses on waste diversion and incentives waste to energy solutions.

Conducting outreach to the relevant stakeholders regarding economic development and employment programs that could help facilitate and advance the client's mining activities in Northern Manitoba.

Discussions regarding economic impacts of COVID-19 on Mountain Parks. Arranging meetings to discuss the mountain parks management planning process for 2020-2030.

Request for federal government funding to fund the activities prescribed in Edmonton Global's mandate and strategic plan for the purposes of attracting new investment in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. Ensuring the removal of policy barriers, proactive policy change, budget measures and new and existing legislation are all focused on increasing Canada's competitiveness for investment attraction and foreign trade.

Discussions surrounding the development of additional crude oil pipeline egress on B.C.'s West Coast Pan-Canadian energy strategy – discussions regarding the development of a national energy strategy, Canada’s role in the North American and global energy markets, US-Canada energy and trade relations and other trade related issues, including tariffs Discussions regarding the implementation of grants and investment tax credits for energy transition projects, such as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS). Discussions and updates related to Pembina’s export projects in BC West Coast, such as the Prince Rupert propane export terminal, Vancouver wharves, and Cedar liquified natural gas (LNG) export terminal. Clean Fuel Regulations – discussions and input related to the implementation of the Clean Fuel Regulations and compliance pathways. Discussions around enabling policy and incentives for data centres and accompanying power generation Regulatory efficiency – discussions regarding the government’s approach towards streamlining regulatory process as they related to large energy infrastructure projects and pipelines. Market access and competitiveness - discussion regarding the government’s approach to opening new markets for Canadian oil and gas resources and related products to ensure full market value for Canadian hydrocarbons and other projects as yet in the proposal stage. Discussions related to the implementation of federal environmental assessment and environmental protection legislation. Discussions regarding the competitiveness of Canada’s energy sector, particularly related to pipelines and midstream energy issues, including environmental protection and safety, Indigenous engagement, federal procurement decisions, and sector investment. Climate change policies with respect to considerations for greenhouse gas reduction targets, cap and trade and carbon pricing provisions.

Pan-Canadian energy strategy – discussions regarding the development of a national energy strategy, Canada’s role in the North American and global energy markets, US-Canada energy and trade relations and other trade related issues.
