(including humanitarian assistance) A project to enhance contributions of Canadian civil society organizations (CSOs) to the effectiveness of Canada’s international cooperation efforts.

Encouraging Global Affairs Canada to commit funding to No Child on the Sidelines, a project led by Right To Play in collaboration with Global Citizen, towards advancing the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund campaign to raise USD $100 million globally for education and sports-based learning for children. The project aims to support grassroots organizations in developing countries who are conducting play-based learning programs, through direct grants, technical assistance and shared learning opportunities. The project also seeks to share the impact with Canadians through communications and public engagement activities. Innovative funding mechanisms for humanitarian response by Canadian international non-governmental organizations (INGOs): In parallel with Global Affairs Canada's (GAC) annual Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP), and complementary to GAC's existing humanitarian tools, new options are needed for leveraging the speed and reach of Canadian INGOs to respond swiftly, at scale, and holistically to major and emerging humanitarian crises. Humanitarian Coalition Dedicated Matching Fund (MF) Program: i) The MF is a joint tool of the Humanitarian Coalition (HC) and its member agencies in partnership with the International Humanitarian Assistance (IHA) directorate of Global Affairs Canada (GAC); ii) The MF provides periodic funding in support of the international humanitarian response activities of the member agencies of the HC; iii) The MF is activated only occasionally, in order to address unmet needs arising from major humanitarian crises abroad, often triggered by significant natural or man-made disasters; iv) The MF assists in mobilizing the Canadian public to strengthen Canada's response to major crises. By matching eligible contributions, the MF encourages Canadians to donate to the HC or one its member or affiliate agencies responding to a particular crisis; v) The HC engages with the Minister, representatives of GAC and IHA to ensure the ongoing renewal, improvement and strengthening of the MF program. Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund (CHAF): i) The CHAF is a joint tool of the Humanitarian Coalition (HC) and its member agencies in partnership with the International Humanitarian Assistance (IHA) directorate of Global Affairs Canada (GAC); ii) The CHAF provides funding in support of the international humanitarian response activities of the member agencies of the HC; iii) The CHAF is activated multiple times per year to address unmet needs in humanitarian crises abroad, typically triggered by smaller-scale natural disasters; iv) The HC engages with the Minister, representatives of GAC and IHA to ensure the ongoing renewal, improvement and strengthening of the CHAF program.

Discussions with Government officials on the importance of Gender-Lens Investing (GLI) to support feminist movements globally. This includes highlighting how GLI can address structural inequality, increase access to capital for women and non-binary people, and promote gender equity by directing investment capital to empower underserved populations. This aligns with the Equality Fund’s commitment to mobilize resources and create an inclusive financial ecosystem to further gender equality goals. Discussions with Government officials on international assistance programs directly funding women’s rights organizations around the world to ensure better quality partnerships and lighter administrative and monitoring and evaluation requirements. Discussions with Government officials on Canada's feminist approach to international assistance with respect to increasing the amount of funding directed to women's rights organizations and movements in developing countries around the world.

Official Development Accountability (ODA) Act: advocate and advise on the implementation of this act; Feminist International Assistance Policy Financial Support from Global Affairs Canada to the Canadian Network for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (CAN-MNCH) through a Government of Canada Contribution Agreement Engaging with the Government of Canada to continue to invest in programs and policies that advance the health and rights of women, adolescent and children, in all over their diversity, around the globe.

Official Development Assistance – via Global Affairs Canada, specifically assistance provided through the Maternal Newborn Child Health (MNCH) and nutrition envelope. Encouraging the creation of new policies and shaping existing practices linked to global health so that Global Affairs Canada efforts in this area take nutrition into account, with the objective of ensuring maximum impact and results for the world’s most vulnerable, especially women and children in developing countries.

Focus on girls' rights and youth leadership in Canada focused on addressing systemic barriers to gender equality in leadership in Canada and globally. Plan International Canada advocates for gender equality and children's rights. Our policy and advocacy spans a number of sectors, including, health, education, child protection, climate change, economic security, water and sanitation, emergencies and child participation.
