Title: Expand the Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit to include equipment that produces electricity, heat, or both from waste biomass. Details: The 2023 Fall Economic Statement sought to expand the 30 percent Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit to equipment that produces electricity, heat, or both from waste biomass. In August 2024, Finance Canada announced legislative amendments to the Income Tax Act that would have implemented the 2023 FES biomass provision – yet that amendment lapsed with Parliaments prorogation. By restoring this amendment and layering in a refundable credit for additional low-carbon fuels, the government can unlock private investment, create skilled jobs in communities across the country, and drive the Government of Canadas ambitions of economic competitiveness and industrial decarbonization.
