Support for the National Adaptation Planning Global Network from Global Affairs Canada of $10 million over 4 years (2021-2025). Established in December 2014, the NAP Global Network works with developing countries to advance adaptation planning and action. This is done through: • South-South peer learning and exchange • Technical assistance on NAP development and implementation • Enhanced bilateral support to adaptation • Knowledge production and communications Support for the IISD Experimental Lakes Area from Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans of $12.5 million in 2021. These 58 lakes and their watersheds in northwestern Ontario are the only place where scientists can manipulate whole lakes to collect data from all levels of the ecosystem and understand how it all interacts. This support would go towards: • maintaining the most comprehensive open dataset on freshwater research in the world, making substantive contributions to science and public understanding of Canada's freshwater resources; • building a new public engagement center and replacing aging diesel infrastructure with solar power to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 330,000 kg/year; and • increasing Canada’s cutting-edge water science on climate change, plastics and pharmaceuticals. Carbon Removal Canada seeks to ensure that demonstration funding programs are open to permanent carbon removal technologies, helping more projects bridge the gap between pilot and commercial scale, while securing new funding streams for demonstration projects. Carbon Removal Canada advocates for policies and programs that ensure the Canadian carbon removal compliance markets maintain their scientific integrity. This may include measurement, reporting, and verification requirements, or industry best practices. Carbon Removal Canada advocates to develop a permanent carbon removal procurement program that enables the Government of Canada to catalyze the growth of Canadian carbon removal technologies, while meaningfully dealing with its own emissions, such as the Canadian military, without impacting necessary operational flexibility. Carbon Removal Canada seeks to provide advice to the Government of Canada on achieving a balance on ocean carbon removal technologies; ensuring that the integrity of the ocean is maintained, while also creating business certainty. Carbon Removal Canada advocates for the recognition of permanent carbon removal as critical to Canada's economic and environmental future. Carbon Removal Canada advocates for programs and policies that make Canada more competitive in attracting investment for carbon removal technologies and companies. This includes tax credits and regulatory structures that ensure Canada has a high-level of business certainty and active business environment.

Regulations, policies and programs to support chain efficiency and resiliency in Canada. Discussing with government the Canadian Transportation Act with respect to potential changes that have a direct impact on rail/trucking transportation along with port activities. Discussing with government the Shipping Conference Exemption Act - in Budget 2023 released on March 28, 2023 the federal government committed to launching a review of SCEA to improve marine shipping competition. Discussing with government review of the Canadian Transportation Act and impact on both domestic and international trade. Discussing with government the Rail Passenger Priority Act - this enactment amends the Canada Transportation Act to require that railway companies give priority to passenger rail service over the movement of freight and to provide for administrative monetary penalties for contraventions of this requirement. Discussing with government the Ports Modernization Review - increased accountability of Canadian Port Authorities is required, including introducing potential regulations to challenge excessive fees, charges, common use of the facilities, and protect users from unfair competition by the port against its tenants.
