Fisheries Act: With respect to possible changes to the Fisheries Act involving destruction of fish and/or fish habitat including Bill C68 and ensuing regulations Department of Finance: With respect to possible changes to regulations around private corporate pension plans and various proposed tax measures Climate: Inclusion of nuclear energy in the program as a means of maximizing emissions-free nuclear power generation to assist Canada is achieving its emissions reduction objectives. Support for hydrogen research and development capabilities in Canada through the Strategic Innovation Fund I will be pursuing various department and agencies to adopt hydrogen and CCS incentives and financial supports including the Strategic Innovation Fund, Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit, Contracts for Difference, and carbon credits under the Clean Fuel Regulations. On behalf of the client, I will be advocating to various departments and agencies with respect to legislation and regulations that impact the development of clean hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS) with a focus on Bill C-59 (e.g. CCUS-ITC), Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit and the Clean Fuel Regulations.

Policies, regulations and programs regarding zero emissions vehicles and the use of hydrogen in transportation applications, the supply of hydrogen and equipment for hydrogen fueling stations, including technology relating to compression, storage and dispensing. Engaging government regarding support for clean hydrogen production and emissions reductions, including the proposed Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit and the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Investment Tax Credit.

"Hydrogen Related Incentives" On behalf of the client, I will be advocating to various departments and agencies to promote hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage (CCS) in Alberta. In addition, I will be pursing various department and agencies to adopt hydrogen and CCS incentives.

Discussions regarding support for the development of clean hydrogen and net-zero technology, including through the Strategic Response Fund. Policies and regulations regarding zero emissions vehicles and the use of hydrogen in transportation applications, the supply of hydrogen and equipment for hydrogen fueling stations, including technology relating to compression, storage and dispensing. Engaging government regarding hydrogen and emissions reductions, including the proposed Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit and the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Tax Credit. Engaging government on regulations relating to hydrogen, including the Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS) regulations. Engaging government on regulations relating to CO2 production and reduction. Engaging government on issues relating to Greenhouse Gas rules and their impact on third-party producers and sellers of hydrogen. Clean Electricity Regulations (CER) & equivalency – understanding the timing, objectives, and implementation of the CER to navigate a bilateral equivalency agreement. Includes advocacy for strengthened industrial pricing system to meet Canada's decarbonization goals. Net-zero emissions pathways to 2050 and the use nuclear energy and/or negative emissions technologies to meet Canada's climate goals. Maintaining and improving the large emitter trading systems (LETS) created by the Part 2 of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (2018). Canada Growth Fund (CGF) - Understanding the timing, objectives, function and intended outcomes of the CGF using mechanisms such as carbon contracts (e.g. contracts for difference & offtake agreements). This includes advocacy around how carbon contracts are deployed, and the funding mechanisms used to support carbon contracts. Seeking changes to federal rules around tax treatment of companies (e.g. utilities) that change from not-taxable to taxable status (departure tax). The regulation of greenhouse gas emissions through the federal out-put based pricing system, including expanding fungibility and transparency. The development of a border carbon adjustment mechanism to respond concerns around carbon leakage and Canadian competitiveness. Policy around the design and implementation of a federal Carbon Contracts for Difference (CCfD) program. Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change with respect to Canada's implementation of its international policy commitments.

Efficient approval processes for major resources (energy) projects Federal government priorities on transitioning to a lower carbon environment in Canada. Nuclear Cooperation Agreements governing nuclear power services exports/trade to countries, inclusive of small modular reactor and new and existing reactor development globally. Recommendations on Federal policy re nuclear power development in Ontario, as well as in other Canadian provinces and territories.

Engagement with the federal government on the Defence Industrial Strategy, defence-related infrastructure projects and other governemnt priorities related to defence and security, such as the development of a domestic defence industrial base, developing sovereign defence capabilities and defending the Artic. To discuss international project financing opportunities in engineering, construction management, large project delivery and financing, infrastructure and energy Global Affairs Canada (GAC) re engagement and support support of Canadian business abroad by the trade commissioners service. Support broadly for bilateral, regional and multilateral trade and services liberalization agreements as well as nuclear cooperation and other permits. This also includes policy support for Canada Account as well as Export Credit Financing. Federal nuclear policy related to large conventional nuclear reactors as well as small modular reactors. This includes financial and other contribution for the design of nuclear reactor technologies. Transportation -- Existing and future course of action associated with delivery of infrastructure projects. Support the federal government's priorities in the health sector. Recommendations on Federal policy re nuclear power development in Ontario, as well as in other Canadian provinces and territories. Nuclear Cooperation Agreements governing nuclear power services exports/trade to countries, inclusive of small modular reactor and new and existing reactor development globally. Infrastructure funding at the federal level, inclusive of the National Infrastructure Assessment, and new approaches to structure large infrastructure projects. Immigration policy with respect to improved business travel visa services; Foreign policies as they affect trade; maintaining and increasing diplomatic resources in various foreign markets; Federal priorities in the Canadian Mining and Energy sectors. Federal government priorities on transitioning to a lower carbon environment in Canada. Under the banner of the Canadians for CANDU campaign, which is a broad coalition including labour, medical, first nations and supply chain organizations, AtkinsRéalis wants the government of Canada to support the Canadian-owned CANDU nuclear technology as the reactor for the next generation of new reactors to be built in Ontario, across Canada and internationally. This support can be in the form of loans to support the development of the updated reactor, financial support to provinces and utilities that choose CANDU, and export credit support for CANDU reactors exported to foreign countries. (CANDU: Canada Deuterium Uranium)

Work Permits: Highlight the significant challenges facing industry in securing foreign nationals to fill skilled labour shortages in Canada. Advocate for adherence to stated processing timelines for work permits through Canadian diplomatic missions abroad and encourage improved communication on individual cases. Transportation Policy: Advocate that federal transportation policy and legislation must ensure Canada remains competitive in strategic industries like the nuclear energy sector by facilitating the continued transport of these goods via Canadian roads, rail lines and ports. Ensure that the high standards, safeguards and precautions taken in the transport of uranium and nuclear products are understood by federal policy-makers. Tax Policy, Legislation and Application: Work toward a resolution of issues arising from multiple court rulings in Cameco’s favour following successful litigation to overturn reassessments issued to the company by Canada Revenue Agency for the 2003, 2005 and 2006 tax years. Sustainable Resource Development: Seek to ensure that any environmental legislative or regulatory modifications affecting resource development are grounded in the principles of sound science/evidence-based decision-making and efficiency of regulatory process. These include the implementation of the new Impact Assessment Act (IAA), the Fisheries Act, and the Canadian Navigable Waters Act (CNWA), as well as further developments under the Species at Risk Act (SARA). Seek also to ensure that a meaningful role is facilitated for local Indigenous communities in the environmental monitoring of resource operations. Non-Resident Ownership Policy (NROP): Advocate for the implementation of the policy changes recommended for uranium mining in the final report of the Competition Policy Review Panel. National Recovery Strategy for the Woodland Caribou pursuant to the Species at Risk Act (SARA): Advocate for the federal government to update the finalized National Recovery Strategy for woodland caribou to fully and accurately reflect the scientific findings and data collected from the additional research that has been conducted in northern Saskatchewan. International Nuclear Co-operation: Advocate for the completion and implementation of Nuclear Co-operation Agreements and related protocols facilitating the export of Canadian uranium, nuclear products and technologies for civilian purposes to countries the Government of Canada recognizes as legitimate participants in the nuclear energy sector. International Investment Protection: Encourage the negotiation and implementation of Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements and/or other bilateral investment treaties with countries that currently do not have such agreements in place with Canada to better protect the investments and holdings of Canadian companies and individuals in foreign jurisdictions. Advocating for the expansion of existing energy programs within Natural Resources Canada and Innovation, Science and Economic Development to include programs and policy that support energy efficiency and technology and innovation.
