Discuss trade and the impact of tariffs, as they relate to CCI members and policies, with officials - particularly as it relates to Atlantic Canada and/or other jurisdictions. Discuss Atlantic Canadian global trade opportunities relevant to CCI members and emerging regional opportunities (particularly in defence and aerospace) with officials. Citizenship and immigration – Change the current work visa time lines, seek changes to the the Labour Market Impact Assessment for expatiating and a faster process Changes to Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) to make the process easier for Medium and Small Business (SMEs) to apply and report on the current program, to Increase the maximum amount a SME can apply for Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) - changes to (scientific research and experimental development) SR&ED program with how it is administered and reviewed. Discussed companies SR&ED claims and issues with their processing. Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to establish a sponsorship agreement related to CCI's Board education training program for the intangible economy.

The CLTA works to advocate for a fair resolution to the softwood lumber dispute with the United States. Engaging with the Federal Plastics Registry to advocate for a process that is fair, efficient, and effective. Lobbying for fiscal policy that supports a competitive forest industry in Canada. Working with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on a process to evaluate and mitigate impacts of stream crossings and harvesting operations in areas with trout populations. Speaking to government about the Clean Fuel Standard and its potential impact on the forest industry. Representing AFPA-member company interests on the softwood lumber file and working with the Government of Canada to achieve a resolution to outstanding trade disputes with the United States. Promoting a competitive forest industry, including sound forestry policy and strategic partnerships and programs. Lobbying for efficient rail service that moves member company products to customers in a timely and cost-effective manner. Engaging on the climate change file to promote the benefits of a well-managed forest and wood building products as part of Canada's net zero goal. Amendments to the Pulp and Paper Effluent Regulations including the Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) program. Advocating for implementation of the Species at Risk Act that recognizes the value of forestry on the landbase and balances conservation goals and socioeconomic impacts.

Travailler avec l’Agence du revenu du Canada, Finances Canada, Affaires mondiales et Commerce international pour mettre en place des conventions fiscales et autres mesures de taxes permettant aux entreprises canadiennes d’être plus compétitives lors de leur croissance à l’international. Supporter le renouvellement et la mise en oeuvre de l'Accord entre le Canada, les États-Unis d'Amérique et les États-Unis du Mexique afin de favoriser une stabilisation des relations commerciales et une harmonisation réglementaire entre le Canada et les États-Unis, deux des principaux marchés du Groupe CSL. Assurer une prise en compte et application efficace des mesures du Fonds pour la diversification des corridors commerciaux annoncé dans le Budget 2026 tels qu'appliquées au secteur maritime. Encourager le gouvernement fédéral à mettre en place des mesures favorisant le commerce inter-provinces et l'harmonisation des réglementations concernant le transport maritime entre ces mêmes provinces, notamment l'acceptation des normes des navires spécialisées en voyages à proximité du littoral, classe 2 à travers l'entiereté des agences réglementaires des Grands Lacs. Modification de l'application de l'Avis des douanes 25-11 : Décret imposant une surtaxe aux États-Unis (acier et aluminium, 2025), notamment pour ajuster le paragraphe 10 afin de renverser l’exception des marchandises classées sous le numéro tarifaire 9971.00.00. Travailler avec Transports Canada, Environnement et Changement climatique Canada, Infrastructure Canada et Finances Canada pour assurer une application efficace des mesures de L’accélérateur net zéro telles que définis dans le Budget 2021 à la section 5.1 et en modifiant les dispositions du Règlement sur les combustibles propres, en visant la création d'un système de décarbonisation maritime propre au Canada qui mise sur la production, la distribution et l'utilisation de carburants renouvelables, notamment le biodiésel. Travailler avec l'Agence de revenu du Canada et les autres ministères responsables pour définir et appliquer les dispositions de la Loi sur la tarification de la pollution causée par les gaz à effet de serre (L.C. 2018, ch. 12, art. 186) au secteur maritime, et faire reconnaitre le caractère distinct du transport maritime dans l'application de la loi. Encourager le ministre des Transports à utiliser les dispositions de la Loi de 2001 sur la marine marchande du Canada, notamment les sections 88(2) et 89(1), en conformité avec les autres lois en place et en collaboration avec les acteurs du milieu. Discussions with government officials regarding the national electricity strategy and the role of propane, renewable propane and rDME in Canada, including their potential as lower-emissions, efficient fuels, in relation to environmental, energy, industry, finance, agriculture and transportation policies. Reduction in interprovincial trade barriers: to remove barriers to labour mobility and provide a national regulatory approach for propane through streamlining/harmonizing existing prov/fed regulations while ensuring the continued safety and security of the industry. Propane exports: to promote and support existing and future opportunities to export Canadian propane to new and existing foreign markets like Japan and Korea. Discussions with government officials with respect to recognizing and promoting propane, renewable propane and rDME as a cleaner burning, efficient fuels in Canada, as it relates to the environment, energy, industry, finance, agriculture and transportation. Discussions with government officials as it pertains to the effect of possible rail strikes on the energy sector in Canada. Discussions with government officials as it pertains to the transportation of propane via rail, pipeline, trucking and perhaps marine. Also the transportation of propane across Canada/U.S Border. Discussions with government as it pertains to legislation in areas such as Finance, Indigenous, Transportation, Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment. Aboriginal Affairs with respect to the promotion of the use of propane as a clean burning efficient fuel in First Nations communities.
