Discussions regarding campus research & development initiatives Contribute to policy and program development; identify training and partnerships in matters relating to public safety, security and defence Budget bills in support of the federal role in post-secondary education, science and research and official languages funding and frameworks Advocacy with respect to immigration and policies and programs that impact university students, faculty and staff, with emphasis on international students and highly qualified personnel Contribute to policy and seek contributions for infrastructure for research and innovation programming, including bioinnovation and biomanufacturing, cybersecurity, quantum, national security, and defence Contribute to policy and program development on public service training as well as contracts in these areas from the Public Service Commission and the Canada School of Public Service, Public Services and Procurement Canada Discussions with respect to the role of universities in supporting federal innovation initiatives, policies and programs with the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and other relevant departments and agencies. Seek consideration for the acquisition of surplus federal assets when available. Obtain contributions for official language programming Enhanced supports for activities related to commercialization and knowledge mobilization of university research results Funding growth to Granting Councils and for indirect costs of research Increased support for university research, including programs administered by federal research granting agencies (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) in order to maintain an internationally competitive research and development enterprise in Canada Funding and support for the Consortium national de formation en santé from Health Canada Developing partnerships to improve access for cooperative education, work-integrated learning programs and student employment. Creating programs such as fellowships that enhance opportunity for researchers to work with government on research and policy development Contribute to policy; identify and seek funding related to official language minority communities, including the Official Languages Act Contribute to policy; identify and seek funding related to housing, including surplus federal assets Contribute to government policy on sustainable development initiatives
