Advocating for the implementation of labour?related conditions, including prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements, in relation to Bill C?5 infrastructure projects Advocacy in support of the Clean Economy Investment Tax Credits, including labour conditions, and their effectiveness. Advocating for increase to the labour mobility tax deduction and index it to inflation. Enhancement of the Union Training and Innovation Program with brick?and?mortar funding and reinstatement of Canadian Apprenticeship Services, the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant, and the Apprenticeship Completion Grant Advocating for measures to support workers impacted by tariff-related trade impacts in the construction sector. Advocating for investments in infrastructure including in renewable technologies, nuclear energy, infrastructure, transit, and large-scale public investments. Fall Economic Statement - with respect to recommendations that support the Building Trades and construction sector. To oppose any potential tax measures to be enacted by the Federal Government on Union members or pensioners who receive a private supplemental health and dental plan which is paid for by an employer , collective bargaining agreement or pension plan. The impact on employment opportunities for skilled trades workers in Canada and the effect on training opportunities in primary and emerging industries. Temporary foreign workers - advocating for the needs of the industry including the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and International Mobility Program. Pipeline projects - discussing the benefits to the economy and employment of these type of projects in Canada Legislation to implement a skilled trades workforce mobility tax deduction. Immigration - advocating for the long-term labourforce needs of the construction industry. Federal Budget - with respect to recommendations that support the Building Trades and construction sector. Apprenticeship & Training Employment and Skills Development and the Red Seal Secretariat to continue to promote and use the Red Seal Program. Advocating for childcare programs that help our members. Advocating for changes to the Employment Insurance program to better support workers. Advocacy in support of Canadian skilled trades workers on cross-border issues with respect to the United States. Advocacy for supports for displaced workers, particularly in the energy sector, as the economy transitions to Net Zero.

Increasing the federal government's programming and funding allocated for training and retaining Canada's skilled trades workforce. Working with government partners to obtain funding from the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) program, and other programming from WAGE. Establishment of a Temporary Foreign Worker Program construction industry pilot project targeted at small to medium size construction contractors operating in the Greater Toronto Area.

Discuss increasing incidents of violence against health care workers, prevention, and enforcement of existing laws. Support nursing students through targeted financial support such as paid preceptorships and federal grants. Support internationally educated nurses through establishing a collaborative, multi-stakeholder body hosted by Health Canada, to lead national strategy, planning and coordination for internationally educated nurses' registration, integration and support. Targeted funding of $1 billion as an initial investment to immediately begin to address the current health care workforce crisis experienced by provinces/territories across Canada, with funding focused on short and long-term goals. To achieve patient-centred quality care based on the WHO’s comprehensive health labour markets framework that would be acceptable to, and delivered by, the provinces/territories. Provide sustainable funding so nurses and other healthcare workers have access to mental health supports. In keeping with the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, establish specific targets and timelines for the admission and graduation of First Nations, Métis and Inuit health professionals in all postsecondary institutions and provide funding dedicated to indigenous nurse students. Implementing a Universal single-payer pharmacare program. Fund innovative retention and recruitment programs targeted at early-career, mid-career and late-career nurses. Establish a dedicated coordinating body to address critical health workforce data gaps based on global best practices on health workforce management. Address health workforce shortages through the implementation of a comprehensive, pan-Canadian health human resources strategy, in coordination with the provinces and territories, backed by sufficient funding and with real accountability for achieving desired health outcomes; and address critical data gaps through significantly enhancing existing health workforce data infrastructure to standardize data collection and analysis across workers, sectors and jurisdictions, with links to relevant patient information, healthcare utilization and outcome data, for more fit-for-purpose planning and tools available at the provincial, territorial, regional and training program level. In designing this, Canada should draw on global best practices in health workforce planning including in Australia and New Zealand.

Value for physiotherapy in diverse sectors such as primary care. Discussion includes physiotherapy access, expansion of services and scope of practice. Scope of Practice: Physiotherapy scope of practice, skill-set optimization, value for physiotherapy, economic impact. Raise awareness about the role of physiotherapy within a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare and educate policymakers on how physiotherapy can help reduce healthcare costs, maximize current spending and funding allocation through physiotherapy skill optimization, support preventative care and contribute to a healthier Canadian population at all stages of life. Internationally Educated Health Professionals: Monitoring issues related to emerging needs of profession and population. Improving access to safe and effective pain management, such as physiotherapy as a non-pharmacological care, as an upstream and early intervention and prevention response to the opioid crisis Health Human Resource Strategy: Explore opportunities to develop health human resource strategy for the profession of physiotherapy. Discussion includes health human resources planning, health human resource crisis, workforce planning, workforce shortages, scope of practice. Enable support and funding for those communities that could potentially benefit most from telerehabilitation and virtual services, including Indigenous, First Nations, Inuit and Metis and rural and remote populations, where infrastructure may presently exclude them from access (no cellular or internet service/access). Discussion on equity of access to physiotherapy services. Caseload Guidelines: Joint application for funding from Health Canada for Caseload Guidelines development for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy. and Speech Language Pathology. Including research regarding physiotherapy specific caseload guidelines. Adult physiotherapy services covered under the Non-Insured Health Benefits program. This includes NHIB, orthotics, medical devices, coverage.

Engaging Transport Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada to advocate for strengthened federal compliance and enforcement regarding adherence to federal labour laws and regulations governing federally regulated businesses. Engaging federal decision-makers regarding the ongoing review of labour disputes at Canada's Ports.
