Navigating financial support mechanisms such as Canadian Infrastructure Bank (CIB), Canada Growth Fund (CGF), and Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED). Seeking support through funding programs like the Strategic Response Fund (SRF). Seeking line of sight to potential grant funding mechanisms that can, if necessary, support the capital stack of Varme's Heartland Project to unlock private capital investment into the project. Encouraging the Government of Canada to enable Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMO) as a legal tool under the Paris Agreement for domestic carbon project developers to access global markets. Advocating for the inclusion of geologically stored Carbon Dioxide Removals (CDR) to be included within the Clean Fuel Regulation credit market. Lobbying for the Carbon Capture Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS) Investment Tax Credit (ITC) program to consider delivery of power via grid connection through direct supply agreements to a CCUS eligible offtaker as eligibly considered 'dual use'. Advocating for the inclusion of Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) at the 60% rate under the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) investment tax credit (ITC). Advocacy for inclusion of Enhanced Oil Recovery in Federal Government programs including but not limited to; Investment Tax Credits, to support the overall economic viability of CCUS projects and investments. General advocacy for waste to energy as a sustainable and economically maximizing waste management solution. Lobbying for a stronger policy framework around landfill methane reduction that focuses on waste diversion and incentives waste to energy solutions.

Engaging with the federal government in relation to Parkland's participation in the Sulphur Compliance Unit trading program. Engaging with the federal government in relation to the sale of nicotine replacement therapy products and other tobacco alternatives. Engaging with the Government of Canada regarding programs, grants, and other funding opportunities relating to EVs, EV infrastructure, and EV technology. Engaging with the federal government on policy issues including federal budgets, taxation, tax incentives for biofuels, low-carbon fuel production, environment, infrastructure, foreign investment, natural resources, international trade, helping support Canadian energy exports to get to global markets, and pandemic response. Discussing federal/provincial energy policy with respect to issues of supply and access, as well as innovation, policies and programs on the use of low-carbon fuels and increase production and use of biofuels. Supporting policy development and deployment of electric vehicle infrastructure in Canada, including mandates, incentives, and standards development. Details of Parkland's EV charging network and how Parks Canada can partner with Parkland to provide EV charging to park lands. Communicating with the Government of Canada on criteria and opportunities under the Strategic Innovation Fund(SIF) and low-carbon fuels more broadly. Parkland may apply, from time to time, to opportunities and funding calls related but not limited to opportunities that enhance our service offerings such as electric vehicle charging infrastructure programs and clean fuel fund requests for proposals issued by Natural Resources Canada.
