Discussions on the development of a mutual agreement between Canada and European Union to allow the use of Marine Equipment Directive certified equipment on domestic Canadian vessels. Communicating about regulations under the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, more specifically the Vessel Safety Certificates Regulations (SOR/2021-135), Fire and Boat Drills Regulations SOR/2010-83, and General Pilotage Regulations (SOR/2000-132). Communicating about regulations under the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, more specifically the Hull Construction Regulations (C.R.C., c. 1431), the Life Saving Equipment Regulations (C.R.C., c. 1436), the Marine Personnel Regulations (SOR/2007-115), and the Steering Appliances and Equipment Regulations (SOR/83-810). Communicating, in general, about the coastal ferry sector in British Columbia, including on coastal ferry logistics and operations, on permits and licenses related to coastal ferry workers, and on industry-led coastal ferry initiatives. Advocate to have ferry sector included in present and future infrastructure funding programs

Organizing meetings to ensure that the association is consulted in the development phase of legislative proposals, bills, regulations, policies and programs related to the ferry sector, especially in the fields of maritime security, environment, import duties and passenger safety. Lobby to ensure adequate facilities for ship repairs in Canada. Ensure tariffs are fair for the ferry sector. Advocate to have ferry sector included in present and future infrastructure funding programs. Advocate for the creation of research and innovation capacity on the marine transportation sector through either the creation of a Canada Research Chair position or a measure leading to a similar issue.
