Taxation and Finance: Canada must ensure, fairness, accountability and transparency regarding CRA decisions that impact Jewish charities. Provide economic support for the charitable and not-for-profit sector through a direct granting program. Donations from Canadians should be incentivized through a temporary enhancement of the charitable giving tax credit, or through a donor matching program, whereby the government matches donations from Canadians. Religion: Include a question on religion in every census, instead of every second census. National Security/Security (3): A ministerial directive to the RCMP and CSIS to prioritize and intensify monitoring, intelligence collection, investigations, disruption, and enforcement against antisemitic and Islamist violent extremism, as well as against foreign actors seeking to sponsor or exploit protests in Canada. National Security/Security (2): Continued support for revocation of citizenship in cases involving war crimes, crimes against humanity, terrorism, and extreme promotion of hate; strengthened screening to bar entry and deny citizenship to individuals who pose security threats or have ties to extremist or terrorist organizations; removal of individuals already in Canada who obtained status through false representation; establishment of a fast-track removal stream for high-risk individuals linked to foreign extremist organizations; accelerated removals for individuals convicted of violent crimes; and standalone immigration consequences for expressing support for listed terrorist entities, even in the absence of criminal convictions. National Security (1): Canada Community Security Program (CCSP): Sustained and recurrent funding and program optimization; support for life-saving protective measures for communities at risk, particularly the Jewish community; funding for capital security upgrades and training; and ongoing support for security guards and paid duty officers. Justice and Law Enforcement (2): Conflict of Interests, Foreign Interference, Ethics, Lobbying, Canada Revenue Agency. Ensuring CIJA fully respects all its legal and regulatory obligations while advocating for the current framework to be more efficient and respectful of the needs, objectives and resources of cultural and religious communities. Justice and Law Enforcement: Canada should pursue a comprehensive, accountable approach to combating hate and promoting inclusion by strengthening legal tools, enforcement capacity, and public institutions. This includes modernizing human rights and criminal frameworks to address hate speech and antisemitism, guided by the IHRA definition; investing in anti-racism, tolerance, and genocide education initiatives; and ensuring police are properly resourced to prevent and respond to hate crimes, with clear accountability for results. Bail reform to include a reverse onus on hate related offences. International Trade: Advancing and expanding bilateral trade through the promotion, application, and potential enhancement of the Canada–Israel Free Trade Agreement, as well as fostering increased investment and academic exchanges. International Relations: Canadian diplomatic relations with Israel and the broader Middle East, including Canada’s role in the Israel–Palestinian peace process; Canadian interventions at the UN and other multilateral bodies, including sanctions regimes and related legislation; and policy toward Iran, including maintaining non-renewal of diplomatic relations alongside continued sanctions against the IRGC and senior regime figures. Immigration: Matters related to the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Act, including visa applications and issuance; Immigration and Refugee Board policies, including refugee claims from Israel; broader Canadian immigration policy; integration and settlement of new immigrants, recognition of foreign-trained credentials and language training; and standards and requirements for refugee status, permanent residence, and citizenship

Follow up to the 2023 Parliamentary Review of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) report and any legislation that arise thereto in respect of advance requests, mature minors, MAID for those whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness, the state of palliative care and the protection of Canadians living with disabilities. Conscience rights of clinicians and the need for effective referral for patients. Access of persons across Canada to lawful medical procedures that are provided for under the Canada Health Act. Regulations for the Monitoring of MAID and changes to requirements. Statistical reporting and data collection issues in relation to MAID, Tracks 1 and 2. MAID curriculum or educational initiatives. Legislation and regulation regarding alternative therapies that can be incorporated at end-of-life such as psilocybin. Proposed or implemented legislation or regulation related to medical assistance in dying and any work of the Special Joint Committee on MAID (AMAD). Policies or legislative measures concerning the provision of a guaranteed income or Universal Basic Income (UBI). Legislation and policies concerning the new Canada Disability Benefit Our pre-budget submission included proposals to fund the new CDB at a level that would lift many PWD out of poverty and ensure that the new benefit was not 'clawed back' by provincial governments or private insurance schemes to the detriment of the recipient. Legislation and policies concerning affordable housing initiatives at the federal level DWDC's pre-budget submission included requests for more affordable housing, help for the homeless, and funds to improve the quality of the housing stock for indigenous and aboriginal peoples both on reserve and off.

Advocate for the renewed and long-term funding of the Canada Black Justice Strategy.

Providing commentary and input with respect to Bill C-9, The Combatting Hate Act, including possible amendments that would strengthen the bill to ensure all equity deserving groups, including Black Canadians, are protected from hate speech. The purpose of this assignment is to brief decision makers on the Black Opportunity Fund, and its subsidiary BOF Capital Inc, on its programs and impacts with respect to Black-led Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs; programming that supports Black-led charities, non-profits and social enterprises; and housing policy solutions that would support Black Canadians to access affordable and attainable homeownership, as Canada takes steps to address the country’s housing affordability crisis.

To defend the freedom of religion and conscience against policies and legislation which, either intentionally or unitentionally, would seek to curtail or limit legitimate forms of religious speech and expression. Presently, this includes the CCCB's opposition to a proposed amendment to Bill C-9, titled ‘An Act to amend the Criminal Code (hate propaganda, hate crime, and access to religious or cultural places).’ As per the proposed amendment, the current provision in the Criminal Code slated for removal states: “(3) No person shall be convicted of an offence under subsection (2) [...] (b) if, in good faith, the person expressed or attempted to establish by an argument an opinion on a religious subject or an opinion based on a belief in a religious text.” With respect to "Medical Assistance in Dying" or ("MAiD"), the CCCB objects unequivocally to euthanasia/assisted suicide and to all legislation that permits euthanasia/assisted suicide, and, therefore, disagrees with any expansion of the criteria of admissibility to "MAiD" to vulnerable populations, including persons with mental illness and "mature minors." With respect to the House of Commons' Finance Committee's a) Recommendation 429: No longer provide charitable status to anti-abortion organizations; and b) Recommendation 430: Amend the Income Tax Act to provide a definition of a charity which would remove the privileged status of “advancement of religion” as a charitable purpose, the CCCB objects and seeks to persuade the government to abandon such proposals. To encourage the Government of Canada to work collaboratively with the CCCB as well as individual Catholic dioceses and religious orders to further reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Canada. Framework on Palliative Care in Canada, with respect to promoting the expansion of palliative care for all Canadians, including increased government funding.

Legal Capacity. Influence the adoption by the federal government of consistent guidelines and policies that explicitly recognize and support the use of supported decision making as a primary alternative to guardianship. Grounded in the recognition of legal capacity - and the right to access support to exercise that right - contained in article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Inclusion Canada advocates for law reform and a national framework to enshrine and safeguard the right of people with intellectual disabilities to make decisions for themselves (legal capacity, supported decision making...). Income Security. Influence improvements to the Canada Disability Benefit and the Child Disability Benefit, focusing on raising benefit amounts, simplifying access, and expanding eligibility. Advancing policy reform on the Disability Tax Credit and the Registered Disability Savings Plan to remove access and program barriers. This will included engagement on the Canada Disability Benefit Act, and associated regulations, and advocacy to ensure adequate funding to these benefits. Inclusive Education. Develop and launch a national strategy to support and enhance inclusive education. Influence reform on the barriers to accessing quality inclusive education at all levels. Inclusive and Affordable Housing. Advocate for the transformation of congregate, segregated housing into inclusive living. Stop federal investment in congregate housing and advocate for these funds to instead be used for inclusive community options. Change the Registered Disability Savings Plan to better support housing needs. Advise policymakers on development of inclusive community housing. Engagement with existing and forthcoming legislation on housing policy, including the Build Canada Homes Act and the National Housing Strategy Act. Employment. Transform and/or close sheltered work programs and transition to programs that enable real work for real pay (such as that advanced through Ready, Willing, Able). Secure funding to sustain and grow the Ready, Willing, Able initiative. Advancing Human Rights. Provide technical support and consultation to the implementation of the Accessible Canada Act, and associated regulations. Advocate for Canada's fulfillment of its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and monitor that implementation. Access to Justice. We advocate for the federal government to take all necessary measures, including through regulation, policy or law reform, to ensure equal access to justice for persons with an intellectual disability. These include advocating for the federal government to 1. Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year strategy rooted in Article 13 of the CRPD, ensuring equal access to justice for persons with an intellectual disability. 2. Recognize and address the systemic discrimination faced by persons with an intellectual disability in the justice system, dismantling the barriers rooted in ableism. 3. Recognize and address the intersectional discrimination faced by Indigenous persons with an intellectual disability in the justice system, taking steps to dismantle the compounded barriers rooted in ableism and systemic racism. 4. Ensure the provision of tailored and accessible legal information, representation, and support services to all persons with an intellectual disability, embracing the diversity of their communication methods and acknowledging the spectrum of their disabilities. 5. Guarantee that persons with an intellectual disability are treated with dignity and respect in the criminal justice system. 6. Involve persons with an intellectual disability in the development of policies and practices related to access to justice. 7. Challenge stereotypes and prejudices about persons with an intellectual disability, promoting understanding and inclusion. Access to Healthcare.
