We will be meeting with elected officials and Designated Public Office Holders about First Nations police services and the need for funding for a tribal police service. Blackbird will support the Confederacy in their advocacy around Bill C-5, the One Canadian Economy Act and the Major Projects Office, including the Pathways Alliance Project. Confederacy of Treaty Six is examining pathways to secure increased funding for First Nations policing. Blackbird will correspond with federal officials to coordinate attendance for an upcoming Confederacy of Treaty Six policing symposium in November 2025, as well as in-person meetings in Ottawa.

Discussions regarding government support for clean-tech as part of the Next Agricultural Policy Framework. As government becomes involved in discussions around climate change, they advocate for programs and incentives that help farmers continue adopting innovations to meet our environmental targets. Discuss policies and regulations of internal trade and how these will affect agriculture, supply management and dairy. Ensure franchised small businesses are treated equitably under federal policy by recognizing franchisees as independent small businesses, in eligibility for government support programs and in environmental regulatory requirements, including the Federal Plastics Registry. Introduction of a federal Career Extension Tax Credit allowing Canadians aged 60 and older to earn up to $65,000 in total income before the credit begins phasing out at 15 cents per dollar above that threshold. This change would allow older Canadians to engage in part-time work without pushing them into the next tax bracket. Inform the Federal Government of the need for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program for the 78,000 franchised small business owners across Canada, ensuring they have the workers necessary to operate their businesses effectively and support the growth of the local, provincial, and national economy.
