To support QueerTech with opportunities for funding and to engage with the government of Canada related to 2SLGBTQ+people in tech, such as pathways to employment, upskilling, entrepreneurship, and education.

Discussions with federal departments and agencies regarding the design, administration, eligibility criteria, funding priorities, and implementation of grants, contribution agreements, and other federal funding programs that support workforce development, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community programming for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in Canada’s technology sector, including programs administered by Women and Gender Equality Canada.

Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning offers postsecondary education programming in the Northwest Territories. Lobbying activities will seek to secure stable and sustainable sources of funding for years beyond the current commitment one year funding agreement. As a leader in Indigenous and Northern education, Dechinta will also be working with Northern Affairs on strategies and policies related to education in the territories. Recommendations and input will be provided to the Minister and to department officials through planned engagement processes and through written submissions. Dechinta will seek to keep updated members of parliament and senators that have supported them.

The purpose of this assignment is to brief decision makers and explore policy solutions that would address the labour development needs in remote First Nations communities with a specific focus on addressing the educator shortage challenge in remote First Nations schools in Canada.
