DIGITAL TRAVEL IMPROVEMENTS: Calgary Airports recommends that the Government of Canada take steps to introduce improved digital travel technologies via regulatory changes around digital ID and biometrics, reforms to practices of CATSA and CBSA for increased efficiencies, and dedicated funding to advancing the implementation of innovative technologies. AVIATION ECONOMIC GROWTH INCENTIVES: Calgary Airports recommends that the Government of Canada support the growth of YYC AeroNex at YYC Calgary International Airport by working to attract companies for development that will onshore aviation services into Canada. USCBP AND AGENCY STAFFING: Calgary Airports recommends the Government of Canada address resourcing challenges facing the United States Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) and other government agencies to ensure a seamless passenger experience and reduce the delays passengers and airlines can face as a result. TRANSPORTATION & AVIATION REGULATORY REFORMS: Calgary Airports recommends that the Government of Canada undertake a regulatory review of the entire aviation ecosystem with the goal of modernizing the sector and making it more globally competitive. This would consider costs to the system, competitiveness, and affordability in air travel. AIRPORT LEASE MODEL REFORMS - The Calgary Airport Authority recommends that the Government of Canada exclude non-aeronautical revenue from the ground lease rent formula to allow for Canadian airports to invest these retained funds into maintenance, infrastructure, and debt repayment. ARRIVALS DUTY-FREE - The Calgary Airport Authority recommends that the Government of Canada modernize the ‘Duty Free Shop Regulations’ to allow for the sale of Duty-Free products to all international arriving passengers at Canadian international airports. INTERNATIONAL WASTE DIRECTIVE REFORM: The Calgary Airport Authority recommends the Government of Canada modernize the Health of Animals Regulations and International Waste Directive to allow for regulatory changes addressing waste on arriving international flights. INTERNATIONAL WASTE DIRECTIVE REFORM: The Calgary Airport Authority recommends the Government of Canada modernize the Health of Animals Act to allow for regulatory changes addressing waste on arriving international flights.
