Application and advocacy regarding the Build Communities Strong Fund Title: Lobbying for Modifications to Canada's International Student Cap and Work Permit Policies. Description: Lobbying for region-specific policies that allow more flexibility in the federal cap on international student study permits. The focus is on ensuring that smaller institutions like Lakehead in remote areas are not disproportionately affected by the reduction in permit approvals. Seeking funding to create the Gichi Kendaasiwin Centre. The Gichi Kendaasiwin Centre is an infrastructure project. The Centre will ensure that Indigenous students are encouraged at a young age to view university as part of their future. The project will allow Lakehead University to build on its success and improve the level of attainment of postsecondary education for first nations. Source of funding to be determined
