This undertaking relates to a technical anomaly in the qualified investment rules regarding Canadian registered plans, such as registered retirement savings plans and tax-free savings accounts, which impedes the ability of Canadian mutual fund trusts, with such registered plans as unitholders, to invest in US real estate investment trusts and other US corporate investment vehicles and will seek to have this technical anomaly corrected through an amendment to s. 204 of the Income Tax Act (Canada) or section 4900 of the Regulations.
