To review opportunities for funding of new housing manufacturing by Quality Homes through a federal housing agency, budget or other government programs in support of modular and innovative housing. Identifying opportunities for the deployment of modular housing in Ontario, with a focus on rural communities in central and southwestern Ontario.

Big Turtle Homes is an Indigenous-owned company leading the way in creating affordable housing and addressing homelessness across Canada. Our modular units are prefabricated, built in factories and delivered to permanent or semi-permanent sites. We want to partner with the Federal Government and Build Canada Homes to build affordable modular units to increase the housing supply in Canada.

Engage on the importance of free trade to the modular construction industry, including discussing the application of tariffs to steel modules and derivative products, and prefabricated buildings of wood. Engage on regulations impacting modular construction, including building codes and standards. Increase awareness of the federal government of modular construction in Canada and advocate for the adoption of modular construction in various sectors, including affordable housing, education, and healthcare.

Discuss National Building Code and modern methods of construction. Discussions with government on how we can use advanced manufacturing of residential building components – including modules, wall panels, floor systems, cabinetry, and millwork – to streamline and accelerate the construction of sustainable and livable homes that are more affordable for Canadians. Discuss Buy Canadian Policies through the use of forestry products. Work with the government to explore advanced manufacturing and clean technology tax credits, grants and/or subsidies to support employment and growth.
