Support for new research and campus infrastructure. Increased funding and program design for various programs administered by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Funding or support with respect to international development cooperation (student and academic mobility, internships, research collaboration, exchanges, technical assistance). Discussions regarding possible research and development initiatives for, and investments in, partnerships with the University of Calgary. Discussions concerning potential research and development initiatives and investments related to clean energy, environmental research and climate change policy. Discussions about policy implementation regarding the academic visa process in support of international faculty recruitment with respect to changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. Budget bills in support of federal funding for post-secondary education, research, innovation, science and technology.

Securing a renewal of dedicated funding for mental health and addiction services via bilateral health agreements with provinces and territories ahead of the 2026 federal budget. Arranging meetings and outreach with public office holders to discuss amendments and/or introduction of health care legislation. Securing funding to expand funding for mental health programs and services and mental health research Arranging meetings and outreach with public office holders to discuss mental health and addictions policy, service delivery, and programs.

Securing funding to expand CMHA programs, funding for mental health and mental health research Development of national standards for access to mental health services. Arranging meetings and outreach with public office holders to discuss mental health and addictions policy, service delivery, and programs.

Charitable Sector Reform writ large. Includes engaging with government on necessary reform to enable the sector to flourish. Seeking non-monetary support from the Public Service in regards to the employee charitable giving campaign. Funding for community services and programs for children, youth, seniors, low income individuals, people seeking employment, newcomers, women and other community members. Budget with respect to: -investment in community services infrastructure -the community services labour force -housing and homelessness -mental health and other services -enabling measures for the work of charitable and nonprofit sector.

We engage with various elected and staff officials in the federal government on issues relevant to urban life, including the governance and financing of municipal governments. and specific federal funding and policies that affect urban life, including housing, mental health, economic development, small businesses, land use, infrastructure, urban planning and design, heritage, support for tourism and culture, immigration, skills development and employment, climate, and equity, the health of neighborhoods and downtowns as places. This has been particularly true during COVID.

CDI is seeking Federal funding to underwrite the costs of providing training, technical assistance, and support services needed to grow and sustain the network of organizations across Canada that deliver the Stop Now and Plan Program (SNAP®). In addition, CDI is seeking funding to monitor and report program outcomes at the site and network levels. CDI is offering consulting and technical assistance services to support the Federal government in successfully scaling programs using evidence-based implementation strategies.
