Seek ways for Metis Artists in British Columbia can participate in the diplomatic gifting program and ensure government buildings include metis art in their buildings. Negotiate revisions to the terms of reference for the Recognitions of Indigenous Rights and Self-Determination table. Ensure the Government of Canada continues to engage Metis Nation British Columbia in advancing self government discussions. Additionally, provide updates to government officials on the research work being done across British Columbia to advance self government discussions. Seek adequate funding for housing, education, child services and cultural programs. Seek ways to participate and advance Metis Nation British Columbia housing priorities through Build Canada Homes. Seek opportunities and engagement on the development of the Major Projects Office. Additionally, ensure Metis business in British Columbia are included in the procurement opportunities that flow from Major Projects initiated in British Columbia. Seek understanding and adequate funding supports on programs that will help Metis women and LGBTQ community in BC. Understand what supports are available for adoption of digital governance and seek federal funding for updates and adoption of digital governance. Ensure the Indigenous Justice Strategy includes perspectives from the Metis Nation British Columbia. Ensure MNBC is included in the program delivery stream of the National School Food Program. Lead the negotiations for a self government agreement.

Seeking funding from the Canada Infrastructure Bank (Indigenous Infrastructure Branch) in order to develop a transmission to the Crawford Mine site in Northeastern Ontario, in partnership with Taykwa Tagamou Nation's 50% owned company TIP-1.

Meeting with Public Office Holders to support the implementation - including financial contributions from departments to be determined - of Lake Babine Nation’s (LBN) Foundation Agreement. LBN is also pursuing an Incremental Fisheries Agreement, through the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, from Canada to fund the LBN Fisheries Department so that it can do more research and fisheries management. LBN is seeking additional on-reserve funding for housing.

Implementation of a Commissioner of Modern Treaty Implementation (CMTI) and the implementation of the Bill S-13, An Act to Amend the Interpretation Act.

Bill S-228 – Amendment to the Criminal Code on Forced Sterilization. NCIM communicated with Members of Parliament in support of Bill S-228, which proposes to criminalize forced and coerced sterilization by adding it as an aggravated assault under the Criminal Code. NCIM wrote open letters to submit to Members of Parliament and have mentioned it in other advocacy meetings. Advocacy relates to protecting informed consent, advancing reproductive justice, addressing systemic discrimination in health care, and supporting Indigenous women, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people affected by coerced sterilization. Engagement included participation in a joint letter urging passage of the legislation. Bill S-243, An Act to Establish a National Framework for Women's Health in Canada The National Council of Indigenous Midwives is participating as part of the Women's Health Coalition Advocacy Council. We aim to ensure: Explicit inclusion of Indigenous women, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people within the framework; Consultation and stakeholder engagement provisions (Clauses 3–5), including recognition of Indigenous midwifery organizations as key partners; Improving access to maternal and reproductive health services in rural, remote and northern communities; Workforce development and Indigenous midwifery education; Federal-Provincial-Territorial coordination mechanisms related to women’s health. Advocacy may include participation in coalition activities, advisory committee engagement, and potential submissions during parliamentary committee study. Secure increases in funding for our organization to support the growth of Indigenous midwifery across Canada. Securing increased federal investments in Indigenous-led health (midwifery, infrastructure, and community-based education). Securing Indigenous midwifery leadership within the federal government’s health human resource planning.

Pursuing funding opportunities to support PLATO Testing's employment and training for Indigenous people; and, seeking a review of Canada's Indigenous procurement policies.
