To introduce Alectra's renewable energy projects to the federal government with the aim of identifying government grants, funding streams or any other relevant avenue in which Alectra's renewable projects may be considered for financial support. To advocate for changes to the definition of tax-exempt entities under the Federal Income Tax Act to allow for increased investment into the electricity sector.

Seeking the inclusion of Waste Heat to Power as an eligible technology under the clean technology investment tax credits, alongside trade association, Heat is Power.

Clean Tech and Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credits with respect to attached labour conditions, including prevailing wages and apprenticeship training opportunities.

Investment tax credit proposals, with respect to incentives for certain types of renewable and clean energy technologies, including energy storage, hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), and small modular reactors (SMRs). Emission reduction initiatives, in respect to emerging and nascent technologies, such as intelligent grids, utility-scale storage, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), hydroelectricity, SMRs, hydrogen and other technologies, and in respect to research, development and deployment of those technologies, their financing and adoption in electricity systems. Clean Electricity Regulations, with respect to the overall development of the regulations and compliance mechanisms.

Engage government officials about the government of Canada's decarbonization policies, including the Healthy Environment & Healthy Economy plan, and clean electricity regulations.

Energy Storage Canada advocates for the use of energy storage assets as part of the Government of Canada’s net-zero transition. Storage resources are deployed to support clean, reliable, affordable access to electricity for Canadians. Government policies and programs that enable and enhance the business case for energy storage assets such as investment tax credits and clean energy policies form the basis of this activity. To the extent that these government policies emerge as legislative or regulatory proposals, Energy Storage Canada will advocate for the storage industry.

Support from the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax incentives, Strategic Innovation Fund, and Sustainable Development Technologies Canada. Discussing with the federal government how to access these incentive programs to support our manufacturing, research, and development activities in Canada. Oil & Gas Sector Emissions Caps. Discussing the role of different technology such as carbon capture, hydrogen, small modular reactors, and electrification to reduce emissions from the oil and gas sector. Multilateral & Bilateral International Trade policies & programs, regarding international trade including Canada/US relations. Discussing cross-border trade and how to facilitate the free flow of goods and services between Canada and the U.S. as outlined under the North American trade agreement. Finance Canada’s Annual Budget. In particular, discussion regarding Canada’s fiscal framework to incentivize the deployment of energy infrastructure projects to increase power generation and reduce emissions. Finance and monetary policies, regarding support for non-bank financial institutions. In particular, how finance and monetary policies can better incentivize investment in Canada’s energy sector and project development. Climate change policy. Initiatives by the federal government to design climate change policy that would enable Canada’s energy transition, particularly for the electricity sector or to decarbonize the oil and gas and industrial sectors. This includes the Emissions Reduction Plan and the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act. Clean Technology Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit. Discuss expanding the eligibility to manufacturing of grid equipment as well as previously used manufacturing equipment. Clean Technology and Clean Electricity Investment Tax Credit. Discuss the role of new technologies and refurbishments to be included as eligible property as part of these policy designs. Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit. Discuss the interaction between the hydrogen investment tax credit and its interaction with other investment tax credits or federal government incentive programs as well as equipment required to support clean hydrogen production in Canada. Clean Electricity Regulations. Discussing regulation design to maintain a pathway for the abated use of natural-gas fired power generation through carbon capture or high blends of hydrogen and alternative fuels under Canada’s Net-Zero Grid by 2035 policy efforts. Carbon Capture, Sequestration, and Utilization Tax Credit. Discussing a fully refundable investment tax credit that is applicable to all sectors and aspects of the value chain for carbon capture projects.

Support for net zero clean electricity transmission and the production of clean energy infrastructure. Policies to support a pan-Canadian east–west transmission grid with a focus on reliable, affordable, sustainable power for Canadians.

Advance the interests of Indigenous Peoples. Contribute to clean growth and to meeting Canada’s climate objectives Strengthen Canada’s autonomy, resilience and security. Provide economic or other benefits to Canada Clean Electricity ITC, consultation and advising on how Manitoba Hydro is perusing implementation of the regulation and reducing GHG, while maintaining reliability of existing infrastructure, while highlighting economic opportunities. The Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program (SREPs). The program will provide direct financial support to eligible renewable energy and grid modernization projects during the construction phase. The Smart Grid Program. Part of Natural Resource Canada’s targeted national programs addressing key infrastructure to advance the goals of the Pan Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. It assists Utility-led projects to reduce GHG emissions, better utilize existing electricity assets and foster innovation and clean jobs for: demonstration of smart grid technologies and deployment of smart grid integrated systems. Investment Tax Credits towards the construction of new Hydro-electric projects, wind projects, and subsequent labor requirements associated with each. Engagement with the federal government in providing feedback on the development of the clean electricity regulation.
