Food safety regulatory framework - advocacy of the the establishment by Federal/Provincial/Territorial governments of a harmonized and integrated approach to food safety for all food businesses in Canada consistent with their commitments under the Food Safety Blueprint (1994), the Agricultural Policy Framework (2001) and other initiatives. Feed Regulatory Renewal, CFIA project to modernize the Feed Regulations as they relate to food safety Communication of a National (Federal/Provincial/Territorial) Recognition of Post-farm Industry-led, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) -based Food Safety Programs leading to the establishment of a consistent set of recognition programs for food safety programs implemented by primary producers and post-farm food businesses that are not registered establishments under either federal or provincial/territorial legislation. Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA),amendments to the Safe Food for Canadians Act regulations to ensure consistency with industry best practices, international standards and requirements set by major trading partners. Turning the Corner: Regulatory Framework for Industrial Greenhouse Gas Emissions - with respect to reporting requirements for industry Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America – providing input regarding the competitiveness of the Canadian food processing industry. Also, providing input to reduce United States/Canada border costs Scientific Research and Experimental Development Program (SR&ED program) - with respect to reducing the administrative burden Safe Foods for Canada Regulations - working with government to ensure that Canada's food supply remains reliable and safe, and that as the Act regulations continue to evolve, government is kept abreast of industry findings. Product of Canada Food Labelling Guidelines – Provided feedback and questions with regards to the implementation of the guidelines. Meat Inspection Regulations - advocating the Government of Canada to reinstate mandatory pre-market label approval for meat products under the Meat Inspection Regulations. Meat Hygiene Directive – Listeria Policy in Ready-to-eat meat products. Provided feedback and questions with regards to the implementation of the Policy. Managing Health Claims for Foods in Canada: Towards a Modernized Framework – providing input to process regarding sound evidence for credible health claims. Healthy Eating Strategy - to ensure that the policy and regulation proposals on front-of-package labelling, sodium reduction initiative and any revisions to the Canada Food Guide are reasonable and science-based. Providing input into Health Canada's Healthy Eating Strategy consultations Guide to Importing Food Products Commercially – advocating compliance and enforcement of the guide towards imported food products, ensuring a level playing field exists for domestic and imported product. Guide to Food Labelling and Advertising – Chapters: 4, 5, 7, 11, 14, 15 Growing Forward: The New Agricultural Policy Framework as it pertains to FPC's participation on Food Processors Competitiveness Round Table, identifying issues that impede competitiveness. Global Affairs Canada - Trade Controls Policy as it pertains to Chicken, Turkey, Beef & Veal Tariff Rate Quotas for imported product. Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP):FPC sits on the FSEP steering committee, supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems in all federally registered establishments. Food and Drugs Regulations – Part B (Food) & D (Vitamins, Minerals & Amino Acids). Provide input in government’s consultative processes. Advocating on compliance and interpretation. Food Allergen Labelling Regulations – provided input in government’s consultative process to amend the regulations with respect to Food Allergen and Gluten Sources and Added Sulphites Competitiveness - providing input to ensure that Canada's food sector is competitive throughout the supply chain. Chemical Management Plan – as it relates to priority substances batches with regard to chemicals present in food or food packaging Agri-Marketing Program – advocating export programs to support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in marketing innovative food products to international markets. Agriculture Trade Negotiations Consultations Group (ATNCG) – providing input in the World Trade Organization negotiations and regional and bi-lateral free trade agreement negotiations as it pertains to food products.
