CICan is seeking federal engagement on policies and programs that support skills training, applied research, workforce development, and innovation aligned with the government's economic, industrial, defence, and security priorities.

Engaging federal officials about priorites in the energy sector, specifically as it relates to labour requirements and union policy. Develop and implement a political lobby campaign to achieve federal funding for the priorities of JEPP (Joint Electrical Promotion Plan) and its partners IBEW CCO (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers-Construction Council of Ontario), ECAO (Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario), and NETCO (National Electrical Trade Council) Achieve NETCO (National Electrical Trade Council) success in receiving approval for its existing federal grant application Achieve IBEW-CCO (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers-Construction Council of Ontario) success in receiving a multi-million-dollar federal funding grant to upgrade one of IBEW’s (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Ontario training centres in 2020 Achieve ECAO (Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario) success in reforming federal procurement rules to ensure that lowest cost is not the main criterion in judging Requests for Proposal
