Exploring procurement opportunities relating to reequipping the Canadian Armed Forces.

Defence: lobbying activities will include discussions, briefing and presentations on Defence and Civil Security related programs. These include, but are not limited to, aerospace programs, maritime/naval programs, land domain programs, training and simulation programs, research and development and civil security related activities Government Procurement: lobbying activities will include discussions and briefings with the relevant Ministers and members of committees with responsibilities associated with government procurement as it relates to defence and civil security related programs. This is not intended to include any requests for government funding. Economic Development: lobbying activity will include briefings, presentations and discussions associated with the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) policy as it relates to defence and civil security programs. The ITB policy is a key evaluated component of many of the federal government programs that Saab competes in, and as such information on the means through which the company aims to address its ITB obligations is worthy of discussion with the relevant government authorities.

Hydrogen, Heavy-Duty freight, transportation, emissions reduction. Goals: Create a dedicated hydrogen freight infrastructure funding stream. Strengthen clean hydrogen tax incentives for transportation with clear eligibility for heavy-duty transportation, refuelling infrastructure, and downstream hydrogen applications. Close the early commercialization gap to improve the financial viability of early hydrogen freight projects and accelerate market adoption. Streamline approvals and regulatory alignment for hydrogen freight deployment Developing regulatory and fiscal framework for enable ammonia exports of Canada's West Coast to overseas markets. Advocacy also includes infrastucture investments to facilitate this emerging sector. Advocating for Investment Tax Credits or other incentives that help level the investment attraction playing field with competing jurisdictions around the world. Working with Transport Canada to explore means in which to improve rail reliability and safety to Canada's West Coast. Working with Global Affairs Canada (GAC - including Invest in Canada), Innovation, Science and Industry (ISI), Western Economic Diversification (WD), and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to jointly promote investment opportunities in Alberta's Industrial Heartland. Grant programs under the Innovation, Science and Industry Ministry that may apply to the petrochemical and hydrocarbon processing sector such as the Strategic Innovation Fund and Western Economic Diversification initiatives. Engaging with Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) and Canada Energy Regulator (CER) regarding Nova Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) expansion regulatory timelines. Encouraging regulatory, policy, program, or financial support for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) infrastructure. Clean Fuel Standard guidelines and implementation.

Enhancing global market access for Alberta exports by expanding pipeline access to tidewater, including through the removal of the Tanker Ban, investing in trade-related transportation infrastructure, and addressing internal trade barriers. Supporting the federal government's defence and economic security priorities by exploring opportunities for Alberta to strengthen Canada's defence industrial base, attract investment, and contribute to resilient supply chains and strategic infrastructure. Exploring opportunities to support the federal government's One Canadian Economy agenda through greater economic integration, reduced interprovincial trade barriers, and strengthened collaboration on nation-building projects. Supporting a strong Alberta within a united Canada by exploring policies that address fairness in the federation, strengthen Alberta’s economic contribution, and improve federal-provincial collaboration on shared priorities. Exploring strategies to support economic growth in Alberta and Canada while ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability and broad-based prosperity. Providing an update on the Business Council of Alberta’s priorities, including productivity, competitiveness, labour shortages, infrastructure, and housing, and identifying opportunities to collaborate with the federal government on advancing shared policy goals. Attracting investment to Alberta and Canada by exploring ways to address regulatory barriers to business investment and create a competitive business landscape. Proposing amendments to the new greenwashing provisions which, as written, will undermine Canadian businesses’ ability to raise capital, take risks, innovate, and make good-faith environmental progress in uncertain conditions. The federal government should respect the CRTC’s Fibre to the Premise decision, which supports a more competitive telecommunications sector and reinforces regulatory autonomy, a principle that is key to investor confidence and a dynamic business environment across all sectors of the Canadian economy. Federal natural resources and environment policy. Unlocking investment and growth in Canada's natural resource industries, and how they can contribute to Canada's productivity, prosperity, and environmental goals. Discriminatory and/or counterproductive impacts on Alberta and Alberta-concentrated industries. Maintaining access to US markets in the face of tariff threats and CUSMA renewal. Discussing how issues related to defence spending, border crossings and illegal drug/gun trafficking impact trade and trade policy. Preserving and enhancing Canada’s access to trade opportunities in global markets; addressing trade disputes, including the differing impact of those disputes across Canada. Exploring opportunities to increase economic activity and value-added processing in agriculture; and discussing the removal of barriers to achieving that goal. Expressing our opposition to the proposed emissions cap as being bad for the environment, the economy, the federation, and Canada’s international standing. Improving Canada's system of major project approvals and permitting to allow projects to get built faster, generate economic growth and advance Indigenous Economic Diversification. Issues range from speeding up environmental impact assessments, to removing fed/prov duplication, to better coordinating permitting processes across the federal government. Removing barriers to interprovincial trade. Providing information via our "Alberta Update" to senior government officials on economic developments in the province. Exploring ways to improve co-operation and collaboration between the federal and provincial governments. The merits and drawbacks of the federal government's proposed oil and gas sector emissions cap; and the most efficient, cost-effective ways to promote a competitive energy sector in Alberta while working towards deep emissions cuts. Clean Electricity Regulations (CER) & equivalency – understanding the timing, objectives, and implementation of the CER to navigate a bilateral equivalency agreement. Includes advocacy for strengthened industrial pricing system to meet Canada's decarbonization goals. Net-zero emissions pathways to 2050 and the use nuclear energy and/or negative emissions technologies to meet Canada's climate goals. Maintaining and improving the large emitter trading systems (LETS) created by the Part 2 of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (2018). Canada Growth Fund (CGF) - Understanding the timing, objectives, function and intended outcomes of the CGF using mechanisms such as carbon contracts (e.g. contracts for difference & offtake agreements). This includes advocacy around how carbon contracts are deployed, and the funding mechanisms used to support carbon contracts. Seeking changes to federal rules around tax treatment of companies (e.g. utilities) that change from not-taxable to taxable status (departure tax). The regulation of greenhouse gas emissions through the federal out-put based pricing system, including expanding fungibility and transparency. The development of a border carbon adjustment mechanism to respond concerns around carbon leakage and Canadian competitiveness. Policy around the design and implementation of a federal Carbon Contracts for Difference (CCfD) program. Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change with respect to Canada's implementation of its international policy commitments.

Request for federal government funding to fund the activities prescribed in Edmonton Global's mandate and strategic plan for the purposes of attracting new investment in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. Ensuring the removal of policy barriers, proactive policy change, budget measures and new and existing legislation are all focused on increasing Canada's competitiveness for investment attraction and foreign trade.

Advocate for strategic policies and investment in low-carbon economic opportunities including CCUS, bioenergy, forestry transition opportunities, hydrogen and clean fuel projects.
