Discussions with ESDC surrounding the governments investments in workforce development, labour market development and training programs. Working with government to close the gap between employers and job seekers by investing in workforce development programs that increase financial stability for low-income neighbourhoods and advocating for practices that minimize precarious employment. Advocating for increased investment in and improved accessibility of the Canada Disability Benefit. Advocating about the importance of investing in robust income supports, including comprehensive Employment Insurance (EI) reforms that require lower qualification thresholds, higher rates of benefits and better access for self-employed workers. Advocating for increased leadership, coordination and strategic investment into non-profit and co-op housing providers and federal programs that preserve existing affordable housing, including programs such as Reaching Home: Canadas Homelessness Strategy. Discussions on the role, mandate, and implementation of Build Canada Homes in order to expand community-led, non-profit housing projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
