ASL demande: L’expansion des services de dédouanement des conteneurs de l'Agence des services frontaliers du Canada (ASFC) vers d’autres ports des Grands Lacs et de la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent afin de libérer le potentiel commercial et logistique. Des ajustements réglementaires et politiques permettant aux ports intérieurs et régionaux de traiter directement les conteneurs internationaux, éliminant ainsi les goulets d’étranglement actuels. Un investissement fédéral et un engagement opérationnel pour soutenir cette expansion de l’ASFC — une initiative qui s’autofinancerait rapidement et renforcerait la résilience du commerce national. Les Armateurs du Saint-Laurent (ASL) demandent au gouvernement fédéral de renouveler et d’accroître son appui à l’industrie du transport maritime de courte distance (TMCD). Pour ce faire, l’ASL sollicite l’engagement du gouvernement fédéral à : Soutenir et cofinancer la mise à jour de l’étude sur le TMCD, afin d’identifier les obstacles actuels, les occasions à saisir et les recommandations concrètes à mettre en œuvre ; Investir dans les infrastructures maritimes et les cadres politiques qui renforcent la résilience et la compétitivité du secteur du transport maritime de courte distance ; Reconnaître le transport maritime de courte distance comme un mode de transport stratégique et durable, contribuant aux objectifs économiques, environnementaux et logistiques du Canada ; ASL porte une attention particulière aux politiques et règlementations qui affectent le commerce international, spécifiquement entre le Canada et les États-Unis. Afin de garder nos routes commerciales fluides, il devient crucial d'éviter les tarifs ou les règlementations qui agissent en tant que barrières commerciales non tarifaires. Réglementation sur les eaux de ballast ASL cherche a developper des options afin que ses membres puissent être conforme au réglement qui demeure couteux et impose une technologie incertaine et peu accessible pour l'industrie canadienne. Programme d'infrastructure ASL cherche des sommes additionnelles afin de sécuriser et moderniser les installations partout au pays et améliorer les infrastructures notamment des régions éloignées et des communautés nordiques. Ils cherche aussi un soutien financier pour les chantiers maritimes dans leurs projets de modernisation. Loi sur le Pilotage L'industrie cherche a modifier la loi afin que le comité national de pilotage permanent revoit le processus de tarification et assure une vigie des coûts et des dépenses pour des services plus efficaces et transparents. Crédits et/ou contributions Les armateurs locaux investissent massivement dans la modernisation de leur flotte afin de réduire leur empreinte environnementale. ASL cherche à instaurer des incitatifs fiscaux pour les entreprises qui font le virage environnemental afin de mieux les soutenir, par exemple par l’entremise d’un programme d’aide vers une transition énergétique.

Discussions on Apprenticeship & Training, Employment and Skills Development, and the Red Seal Secretariat to continue to promote and use the Red Seal Program Assist with National Occupational Competencies analysis for various trades and occupations. Discussions around government supports for workers and the members we represent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussions around concerns with Federal Government procurement practices, introduction of modern Federal Fair Wages legislation, the use of unskilled labour and under-qualified contractors. Discussion around the Public Service Superannuation Act (P.C. 2014-900 July 31, 2014) and the impact on the management of the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (Chalk River) and impact and future of the pension plan for the employees of Chalk River Climate Canada's approach to climate change, regulation of industrial pollution and monitoring of green house gas emissions like carbon. Advocating for increased funding to the apprenticeship incentive grant, the completion grant and the continuation of the UTIP funding.
