TRANSPORTATION & AVIATION REGULATORY REFORMS: Calgary Airports recommends that the Government of Canada undertake a regulatory review of the entire aviation ecosystem with the goal of modernizing the sector and making it more globally competitive. This would consider costs to the system, competitiveness, and affordability in air travel. AIRPORT LEASE MODEL REFORMS - The Calgary Airport Authority recommends that the Government of Canada exclude non-aeronautical revenue from the ground lease rent formula to allow for Canadian airports to invest these retained funds into maintenance, infrastructure, and debt repayment. ARRIVALS DUTY-FREE - The Calgary Airport Authority recommends that the Government of Canada modernize the ‘Duty Free Shop Regulations’ to allow for the sale of Duty-Free products to all international arriving passengers at Canadian international airports. INTERNATIONAL WASTE DIRECTIVE REFORM: The Calgary Airport Authority recommends the Government of Canada modernize the Health of Animals Regulations and International Waste Directive to allow for regulatory changes addressing waste on arriving international flights.
