We would like government to continue to support innovation and products that have the potential to reduce the need for antimicrobials while maintaining food safety in order to make Canadian production more competitive in a comparatively much smaller market. Revising the Hatchery Regulations, which includes testing requirements for broiler breeders for Salmonella enteritidis. Amend the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act to include an exemption to agricultural production for all on-farm fuels. For example, a grain farmer should be exempt, but also a chicken/egg farmer who heats their barns with propane or natural gas.

Engaging with the federal government to support farmer-led initiatives that improve sustainability and fertilizer use efficiency across Canadian agriculture. This includes advancing voluntary, science-based programs such as 4R Nutrient Stewardship (Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time, Right Place) and working with government to improve data, support practical policy approaches, and ensure environmental goals are science-based and do not compromise agricultural productivity. Providing input on the development and implementation of climate and environmental policies related to fertilizer production, including industrial decarbonization frameworks such as the Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS), Emissions-Intensive Trade-Exposed (EITE) assessments, and related provincial programs.
