Support the integration of carbon emissions (operational and embodied) in National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings and National Building Code of Canada. Support the implementation of Buy Clean principles in federal procurements that will require to reduce embodied carbon. Support the greening government strategy and the operations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the federal buildings portfolio. Support the development of the "Made-in-Canada Investment guidelines" with a green and transition taxonomy for buildings as announced by the federal government. Include voluntary standards and certifications such as Zero Carbon Building Standard and LEED in support of government objectives and outcomes to scale up high-performing building for all Canadians and support new round of investments in programs using them (such as the green and inclusive community buildings program). Advocate to include stronger energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction requirements in Canada's housing policies and new structure such as Build Canada Homes. Advocate for the creation of a grant program for Canadian small and medium companies that seek life-cycle assessment and environmental product declarations for their low-carbon building materials. Advocate for better access to whole-building data that will enable energy efficiency outcomes and in support of benchmarking, disclosure or labelling standards/guidelines. Support the continuity of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager as a foundational tool supporting the real estate sector. Discussions with officials to demonstrate the critical role of buildings to meet Canada’s climate change goals, and contribute to the Canada Green Buildings Strategy and Buy Clean Strategy.
