Discussions with government about federal climate and environmental policies, legislation and regulations, such as but not limited to the Emission Cap, the Clean Fuel Regulations, the Output Based Pricing System, the ZEV mandate and the Multi-Sector Air Pollutants Regulations. Discussions on sanctions related to jurisdictions in which Suncor operates or in relation to the loading and unloading of purchased goods. Discussions with government on the Impact Assessment process and impact assessments for energy projects. Discussions of impacts and barriers to the competitiveness of Canadian oil and gas industry, including market access issues such as tanker bans, pipelines as well as new green washing provisions included in the Competition Act. Discussions with government on policy and fiscal supports, and regulatory challenges related to decarbonization, including projects like Pathways. Discussion with government on Canada's biofuel security including incentives and refinery competitiveness. Discussion with the government on any proposed tax changes, specifically relating to the Income Tax Act and associated regulations. Discussions will include all forms of investment tax credit including Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects, hydrogen, as well as production tax credits for biofuels. Discussion with the federal government on First Nations and Indigenous consultation processes including provisions under the Indigenous Loan Guarantee program and the Environmental Justice Act. Discussions with government on issues and challenges to Suncor's operational continuity, including cybersecurity threats, work stoppages, and infrastructure challenges. Discussions with government on regulatory frameworks to enable successful closure & reclamation of oil sands mines, including regulations and practices that enable water release. Advocacy related to both export and import tariffs imposed on our industry both by the US and/ or the Canadian government as well as export bans, if applicable. Discussions with government on Fisheries Act in regard to the implementation of the Codes of Practice, related guidance's and enhanced coordination and alignment between the federal and provincial government. Advocate for timely, streamlined immigration approvals for workers supporting Suncor’s operations both in Canada and internationally.

Participating in the Canadian Lumber Trade Alliance (CLTA) alongside associations and lumber companies from across Canada. The CLTA works to advocate for a fair resolution to the softwood lumber dispute with the United States. Engaging with the Federal Plastics Registry to advocate for a process that is fair, efficient, and effective. Lobbying for fiscal policy that supports a competitive forest industry in Canada. Working with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on a process to evaluate and mitigate impacts of stream crossings and harvesting operations in areas with trout populations. Speaking to government about the Clean Fuel Standard and its potential impact on the forest industry. Representing AFPA-member company interests on the softwood lumber file and working with the Government of Canada to achieve a resolution to outstanding trade disputes with the United States. Promoting a competitive forest industry, including sound forestry policy and strategic partnerships and programs. Lobbying for efficient rail service that moves member company products to customers in a timely and cost-effective manner. Engaging on the climate change file to promote the benefits of a well-managed forest and wood building products as part of Canada's net zero goal. Amendments to the Pulp and Paper Effluent Regulations including the Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) program. Advocating for implementation of the Species at Risk Act that recognizes the value of forestry on the landbase and balances conservation goals and socioeconomic impacts.

Discussions regarding temporary entry, business-visitor status, and work permit pathways for specialized technicians supporting cruise ship refits in Canadian ports. Marine Conservation, Routing & Noise - Engagement on marine conservation measures and operational policies under the Canada Shipping Act, Oceans Act, and Species at Risk Act (SARA). Including Southern Resident Killer Whale protection, underwater noise reduction, discussions surrounding the ECHO framework, evidence-based vessel routing and speed considerations, exclusion zones, and transit-lane shifts. Canada Oceans Act: pertaining to regulations for prevention of pollution from ships and as it relates to pollution prevention in the Canada Shipping Act Workplace Health & Security Act – ensure cruise ships meet requirements of Health Canada Cruise Ship Inspection Program with regard to compliance. Pilotage Authority Regulations governed under the Canada Marine Act and the Pilotage Act and its authorities – ensure fairness in fee structure Regulations for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships and for Dangerous Chemicals – with respect to all proposed amendments, more specifically regarding food waste and waste water. Seeking confirmation from the Government of Canada that crew work permits are not required on vessels involved in international itineraries and home porting in Canadian ports Marine Transportation Security Clearance Program (MTSCP) – regarding security clearance procedures to ensure program and personnel meet cruise ship needs for port activities. Marine Transportation Security Regulations – with respect to review of all proposed amendments Canada Border Services Agency – long range planning policies regarding access of passengers and crews at ports and airports to ensure efficiencies in processing of passengers Fisheries Act: pertaining to regulations for prevention of pollution from ships and as it relates to pollution prevention in the Canada Shipping Act
