Engagement with the Government of Canada regarding the 12-month phase-out timeline of the wood preservative Pentachlorophenol (Penta), which will have significant ramifications regarding sufficient supply of utility poles, resulting in serious implications for the repair, maintenance and upgrade of transmission and distribution lines and ultimately, the delivery of electricity and telecommunication services across Canada. Engagement with the Government of Canada regarding the lack of an accessible and/or Health Canada approved alternative to the wood preservative Pentachlorophenol. Our industry has been preparing for the gradual phase-out of Penta as a wood preservative, and require a suitable replacement ( DCOI) be approved in the next 6 to 8 months to allow Canadian manufactures time to permit and engineer changes to ensure there is no supply disruption to a critical product supporting Canadian infrastructure.
