Extend GST relief to all homebuyers of newly-built homes nation-wide Create a permanent national roundtable on housing that brings together all orders of government, industry and civil society to develop harmonized solutions to the housing supply and affordability crisis. We recommend the federal government consider raising the home value cap for insurable mortgages to $1.5 million, matching the insured mortgage limit Extend 30-year amortization for insured mortgages to all homebuyers. OSFI's Residential Mortgage Underwriting Practices and Procedures Guideline (B-20) with respect to insured mortgages and the minimum qualifying rate (stress test) on mortgage transfers and renewals. Introducing mechanisms to improve income verification, while keeping the personal financial information of consumers safe, secure, and confidential. Consultation and discussion as the Government periodically reviews provisions contained in the Bank Act dealing with capitalization mechanisms, securitization, mortgage insurability. and consumer eligibility requirements. Advocating for policies, programs and regulations which improve housing and mortgage affordability for Canadians, increase flexibility to face unforeseen circumstances, and expand choices for Canadians when making the most important financial decisions of their lives.
