Tariffs. The ODA is supporting the Canadian Dental Association’s efforts to ensure that tariffs do not impact Canadians' oral health and give suppliers time to restructure their supply chains. This includes requests for exemptions for essential dental projects, implementing sufficient notice, and methods to support domestic production. The Canadian Dental Care Plan -- specifically the ODA is working with the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) and the provincial and territorial dental associations to engage the Government of Canada on the national dental care program for low-income Canadians. The ODA's advocacy objectives include: protecting Canadians' dental benefits and addressing staff shortages; clearing backlogs and barriers to treatment; and sustainable, durable, and long-term investments in dental care. Indigenous Services Canada including the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) for First Nations and Inuit, including the types of covered services and reimbursement for dentists; and all issues related to the Sioux Lookout Zone Dental Services Program and the Sioux Lookout Zone Dental Hygiene Services Programs.
